If I register my work in APASER, am I also registering intellectual property?No. They are two different areas of copyright. APASER protects the right that you as an author have against the commercial exploitation of your works by different users such as Cinema, Open or Cable or Satellite Television, among others. In addition, when the work is registered in APASER, it was already published, so the registration as unpublished has no legal effect.

Who can register work?Any Audiovisual Director or Beneficiary of an Audiovisual Director (the latter is the legal heirs of the deceased original author director or directors), who accredits the realization of works that may generate rights, that is, that have been released commercially or are close to being released. And has tax domicile in Africa

What kind of work can I register for?Fiction or documentary feature films and short films, fiction or documentary films made for television, singles, miniseries, soap operas, children's, humorous. Copyright is recognized to the Director of CINEMATOGRAPHIC WORK and to works similar to CINEMATOGRAPHIC ones, Plot and Direction are required. They are not audiovisual works and their directors are not Author Directors and they will not be administered, the mere Audiovisual Fixations, such as those that contain news and information that refer to national or foreign current affairs; reports on all kinds of news, events, acts or ceremonies, whose content is exclusively informative; criticism in all its manifestations; interviews, surveys and discussions, whether improvised or not; sports broadcasts, in general, of all kinds of public events; any form of presentation through personal image or "off" of all kinds of spaces; contests, competitions, raffles and similar spaces; informative spaces on television programming; the talks, gatherings and comments on all kinds of topics; In case of doubt and at the request of the presenter, the Professional Council of Cinema or Television will rule on the audiovisual fixation, rejecting or accepting the character of audiovisual work.

How do I register my work?The steps to follow are: - Register as a user by entering: www.apaser.africa "Register your work now" - Once the registration is submitted, you will receive an email that you will need to open and click on the link in the body of the form. This enables your user registry. - Go back to the site "Registered User" with the email and password designated in the registry, registration forms for cinematographic and audiovisual works can be found here.. - After your registration, we will send you the contract that you sign by e-mail and you return it to our e-mail address.

Do I receive rights for screenings at Festivals and cultural entities?No, festivals and cultural entities do not pay rights for the use of audiovisual works as they are considered non-profit professional promotion events.

Is it necessary to submit a copy of my work?It is not necessary, each Author, when registering and subsequently signing them, as well as the representation contract, will leave signed an affidavit attesting to their authorship.

If a director/ Screenwriters is currently being represented by another entity and wants to register in APASER, what should he do?You must have tax domicile in Africa and request your withdrawal from the other entity. Once the entity that represented you confirms said cancellation, with a copy of it you can start the process of representation in APASER .
